Medical Services

Our physicians bring years of dedicated experience to treating addiction and mental health.

Integrating the best and most effective medical treatments and approaches enables us to create treatment plans offering healing for body, mind, and spirit.

Medical evaluation

Depending on clinical need, our resident medical team including the Director of Neuropsychology, Medical Director, and Director of Addiction Medicine may recommend:

  • Addiction medicine evaluations to comprehensively examine how substance abuse has affected the client’s mind, body, and behaviors
  • Neuroimaging (MRI, CT, or SPECT scans) which provides pictures of the brain that allow clinicians to view addiction-induced damage and tailor treatment accordingly
  • Neuropsychological testing, which is a three-day battery of cognitive, projective, and personality tests

When appropriate, the following medical intervention may be recommended as part of a comprehensive treatment and recovery plan.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT)

MAT uses a combination of behavioral therapy and medication to treat substance use disorders and can be effective for some people to work through the behavioral therapy that is critical to long-term sobriety. Medication reduces cravings, enabling patients to better concentrate on the therapy that will keep them sober and healthy in the long term.

Neurofeedback Therapy

When part of an integrated care model, neurofeedback reinforces recovery by reducing cravings and compulsions. It also helps clients manage moods and emotions, process anxiety, improve sleep, and develop new, healthy behaviors that prevent relapse. Learn more.

Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics is a genetic testing technique that enables our medical staff to prescribe medication that will be the most effective for the client while also causing the fewest side effects. It can be done using a simple saliva swab.
